Harman on Greenberg

20-Jun-11

As is known, Graham has been blogging a good number of posts on Clement Greenberg. He mentions me on a couple of times, as in previous email correspondence, I have mentioned that – in my opinion – he is the most powerful, if not the greatest writer of the 20th Century. And yes I do [...]

Harman at the STS / Oxford.

11-May-11

So I went to see Graham Harman’s paper at the STS, Said Business School, in Oxford. Ideal time to see it really, as it was smack bang in the middle (both journey and time-wise) of going to Cambridge for Platform Politics. I couldn’t live blog – as I had zero wi-fi access. (in fact trying [...]

Graham has adopted a kitten

24-Apr-11

Way to pull on the heart-strings of a self confessed cat lover: Graham’s adopted a tiny kitten, who had been disgustingly and cold-heartedly abandoned. As a tip Graham, just remember you never strictly “own” a cat – you co-exist with them. A bit like Tim Morton’s Hyperobjects.

Looks like I’ll be popping into Oxford then…

13-Apr-11

Heres why. Perfect place and timing really, as the Cambridge event is on the following day.

Paul Caplan on OOO and jpeg protocols

08-Apr-11

HERE is a great post from Paul Caplan on jpegs, software protocols and OOO objects. I’ve had a quick glance through it (as I’m about to go out for the night), and I’m not sure I can disagree with any of his sound words. We’re on the same panel for the platform politics event in May, [...]

A position on Determinacy and OOO

26-Mar-11

I’ve mentioned determinacy a couple of times on this blog, especially in reference to computation, Cellular Automata and OOO. I think its worth explicating a couple of points in relation to determinacy. Indeed, from my own perspective its clear to see that the issue of transformation and topology will iron out some key differences, certaintly [...]

On Agency: Response to Roden’s Reply on my Remarks

15-Feb-11

I’ve only just picked up on one of Roden’s comments over at Enemy Industry (his own blog) about my remarks on algorithmic artworks such as Every Icon. “I feel I need to respond to Robert’s remark on algorithmic art at greater length. Discreteness – unless I’ve read him wrong – doesn’t seem to entail complete [...]

Edinburgh University Press: Speculative Realism Book Series

15-Feb-11

Graham’s ANNOUNCED that Edinburgh University Press are to launch a Speculative Realism book series, of which his book on Meillassoux will be the first. Good to see that interdisciplinary works are encouraged.

Egypt’s Heroic Dead

04-Feb-11

Graham’s set up a category compiling those who have died in the uprising either directly protesting or having been tragically caught in the middle. This is taken from a Google Spreadsheet from some of Graham’s Egyptian friends.

Hello and click here

02-Feb-11

Sorry I have not been posting anything for ages. Its been stupidly busy at work and I’ve been catching up with thesis writing, forthcoming book chapters and conference applications. Aside from that, the jubilant and revolutionary scenes in Egypt have occupied most of my space time the last few days, especially Graham’s posts on the whole affair. [...]
